The Scolar Programme for Photovoltaics was initiated as a response to the Government’s Foresight Challenge to develop photovoltaic (PV) technology and to raise awareness of PV in schools and other educational establishments, both through demonstration systems and the provision of educational material. The Scolar Consortium consisted of a number of UK organisations which were active in PV, from both industry and academia.

This website also provides some background on PV technology. Further useful information on both PV technology and other ‘solar schools’ initiatives can be found on other websites around the world.
