The Scolar Educational Resource Pack is a package which aims to present solar electric or photovoltaic systems to students of all ages. Its aim is to develop basic and increased understanding of this emerging renewable energy technology through the provision of information on different aspects of the technology, exercises using the concepts of the technology and further resources for developing the detailed concepts of the technology. To allow the package to be used easily but with flexibility it is comprised of targeted schools packs for Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, a further resource pack and a list of references. Specifically this includes:

• Sets of information sheets directed at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4;
• Sets of exercises or worksheets directed at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 (with accompanying teachers instruction sheets);
• Teachers guides, including information on using the information sheets and exercises at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 and the links to the National Curriculum;
• An additional resource pack providing information and exercises from which projects can be drawn for higher/extended study;
• References for further information on photovoltaics and other related topics, i.e. renewable energies, energy efficiency, etc.

The Scolar Educational Resource Pack is not intended to be used as a text book. It is an education pack to be used at all levels. At Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 information and exercises have been clearly defined and can be used directly in lessons. For higher levels/further education the pack can be used to develop project ideas/links with other areas of work.

Information sheets can be read in sequence or used loosely via questions in the text which lead to other sheets. Pictures within the text have been chosen to be effective if printed in black and white but are available in colour in section 3.

Exercises/Worksheets: A set of exercises/worksheets for each of Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. In later Key Stages these are specifically linked to different information sheets.

These are designed such that they can be printed/photocopied and handed directly to students.

Teachers Guides: Brief guides for the three different Key Stages providing information on links to the National Curriculum, answers to the exercises/worksheets, discussion items and ideas for further work.

Specific links to the National Curriculum are shown for both the Information Sheets and Exercises/Worksheets.

Answers to the exercises/worksheets show workings to the problems and provide answers as well as listing Information Sheets which should be used in conjunction with the different exercises/worksheets and, in some cases, providing further discussion items and ideas for further work...

The Advanced Resource Pack provides additional information, both in text form and in workable spreadsheet form, to allow teachers and advanced students to develop further study and/or projects related to photovoltaic systems.
